Journey to CPA: 10 Days Left

Ten days until FAR, and it’s time to switch up the study strategy.

10 days left until FAR, and it’s time to switch up the strategy.

I completely blew the first 20 days. I spent way too much time writing note cards and trying to master every single question before moving on. Took me literal days just to finish Unit 1.

Plus add in procrastinating, work, and regular life stuff.

The strategy

New plan is brute force.

I’m doing all 1,700 MCQs and using AI to explain anything I miss or don’t really understand.

  • Do 10 questions at a time
  • Give myself 30 seconds max on each one
  • Flag whatever I can’t figure out
  • Use the prompt below to break those questions down

The prompt

Analyze the FAR CPA question using only the information provided.

Strict rules:

* Get straight to the answer.
* Use simple, everyday language throughout.
* Explain the reasoning clearly enough for someone still learning accounting.
* Maximum 300 words total.
* Use exactly the eight sections below.
* Limit each section to 1–4 short sentences.
* Do not add an introduction, conclusion, background lecture, or extra study tips.
* Show calculations only when needed.
* Define every accounting term immediately in plain language.
* If a section does not apply, write “None.”
* Do not invent facts, dates, calculations, journal entries, or distractor explanations.
* Explain only what the question and answer choices support.

1. Correct Answer
Give the answer choice and amount first. Add one short sentence explaining why it is correct.
2. Core Rule
State the accounting rule in one direct sentence.
Plain English: Explain what the rule means and why it applies here.
3. The Lesson
State the main idea the question is teaching.
Plain English: Explain what to remember for similar questions.
4. The Trick Being Pulled
State what the test maker is trying to make the student confuse, include, exclude, or calculate incorrectly.
Plain English: Explain why the trap looks believable.
5. Journal Entry
Show only the necessary debit and credit with amounts.
Plain English: Explain what increased, what decreased, and why.
6. Date Trap
State the exact date, period, or cutoff issue.
Plain English: Explain which dates or periods count and which do not.
7. 10-Second Shortcut
Give the fastest valid calculation or elimination rule. Name Excel, calculator, or mental math only when useful.
Plain English: Explain the quickest way to spot the answer.
8. Distractor Tricks
For each wrong answer choice, give one short line explaining the specific mistake that created it.
Plain English: Explain what was counted, ignored, added, subtracted, or timed incorrectly.

The goal

First goal is just touch every question once. All 1,700 of them. That’s about 170 questions a day.

After that, I should be able to fly through them way faster on the second pass and slow down on the stuff I still don’t get.

My biggest concern is accidentally memorizing the correct answers and thinking I know the material when I really don’t.

Still gotta make time for the SIMs too. Can’t keep pushing those off until “later” because later is basically here already.

Man 20 days flew by lmao.
