Journey to CPA: FAR Is Done

I sat for FAR yesterday. It wasn't even the hardest part of the day.

Yesterday was one of the worst days I’ve had in a minute.

Sat for FAR at 1 PM. Walked out four hours later like… yeah, I probably didn’t pass that. And before I could even sit with it, I got to my car and had to rush home to say goodbye to my dog. Mom called and told me to hurry home.

We put Roscoe down yesterday.

Roscoe, a little yorkie, putting his paw in my hand

Ngl, I don’t have all the words for that one yet. But it didn’t feel right posting about some exam and acting like that was the whole day. So let me tell you about my dog.

He was a good dog. He slept between me and my little brother every night when I was in high school. All three bros just cuddled up in my bed for years. Now I’m married, my brother is in college, and we had to part ways yesterday.

Roscoe lived a good life. 13 years. He liked to chew rocks, play fetch, and fight with the neighborhood dogs. Hated sleeping alone. And the boy would eat ANYTHING. He couldn’t even have table food as he got older because his stomach couldn’t handle it anymore, but that never stopped him from trying. Even at the end, blind and all, he stumbled into the pantry and found himself a whole onion. My mom heard it from the other room like, “who’s crunching??” That was Roscoe.

He even made it to my wedding in Mexico. We were scared he wasn’t gonna make it that far, but he did, and boy did he have a blast. Ate every piece of scraps he could find on that floor. Blind and everything, still cleaning up.

We knew he didn’t have long once he went blind. Doc said he was getting dementia too. His last week he could barely walk and he wouldn’t eat. He was perfectly fine last year. Exactly on Halloween he was running, jumping, barking. Then two weeks later he was completely blind. And now, June 30th 2026, he’s gone.

If anyone reads this, please enjoy the time you have with your animals. They don’t have long with us and it moves so fast. Boy does it hurt when they leave.

The exam

Four hours. A whole month of cramming came down to one sitting. Some questions were layups.

If you’ve been following along, the plan on June 1st was to score above a 94 with a full month of studying.

Then I blew the first 20 days making note cards and trying to master every single question before moving on. Smh.

The last 10 days were straight brute force. Spamming MCQs, 30 seconds a question, flagging whatever I missed and letting AI break it down. That stretch lowkey taught me more than the first 20 days combined.

And the SIMs I kept pushing off until “later”? Later pulled up on exam day. Lmao.

The waiting game

Now I just gotta wait for the score release. You grind for a month, sit for four hours, and then they make you sit in limbo for weeks. That’s a little wild.

My gut says I didn’t get there this time. But I’ve been wrong before.

I said back in June it was the 4th quarter and I was down 60. Well, the clock hit zero. Ball’s in the air, and I’m down 85.
